DistriConsult comment: Originally established by private founders, RCN or “Recycling-Chemie Niederrhein” was in the late 1980s acquired by Brenntag, before it was transfered to WESTAB, another subsidiary of German industrial conglomerate Veba (now e.on) at the time. A subsequent owner was KRUSE Chemie, who in turn was taken over by STOCKMEIER in January 2013. In the 1990s RCN was instrumental in providing recycling services for spent Chlorinated Solvents from metal degreasing and dry cleaning applications. The service formed a key building block of the “closed loop” delivery and take back concept for these products, pioneered by SAFECHEM Europe GmbH (Düsseldorf, Germany), then a JV between Dow Deutschland and WESTAB.
