Former EPCA Executive to run Fecc on a temporary Basis
Chemical distribution industry trade association Fecc – The European Association of Chemical Distributors (Brussels, Belgium) has named Cathy Demeestere to the position of Director General (ad interim). She follows Elisa Setién, who has recently left the association to pursue other career opportunities. The Board of Fecc said, it plans to appoint a permanent Director general during the course of 2019.
Demeestere is the former Secretary General and CEO of EPCA, the European Petrochemical Association (September 1998-December 2016) where she has been one of the driving forces in the start-up of ECTA, the European Chemical Transport Association, of which she was a Board member and General Secretary from 1999 until 2011. She brings her 45 years of global business experience to the association, of which 30 years was on a general management level. Prior to association management she was active along the whole petrochemical value chain, from oil & gas, petrochemicals and polymers to paints, as well as chemical logistics. A lawyer by training (Ghent University, Belgium), Cathy has enjoyed extensive post-graduate executive education. She is, amongst others, an alumna of Harvard Business School (ISMP 1992) and the MIT Centre for Transportation and Logistics (2011 Strategic Supply Chain Management).
Retired since 2017, Cathy Demeestere is delighted that Fecc is offering her the opportunity to continue to serve the chemical business community on a temporary basis, and very much looks forward to it, Fecc said in a statement.
